TPO Orkit®
Cat. No TPO-100: 96 well kit

Introduction

Thyroperoxidase (TPO) has been found to be the main component of the “microsomal antigen”. The presence of TPO autoantibodies in serum is associated with thyroid autoimmune diseases (Graves’ disease and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis). These antibodies predominantly belong to the IgG class and are clearly polyclonal.

TPO antibody testing is especially helpful in case of:
- clinical suspicion of Graves’ disease without thyroid or ocular signs,
-
subclinical hypothyroidism (TSH between 5 and 20 mIU/l),
-
suspicion of hypothyroidism in school children.

Elevated TPO antibody levels in early pregnancy represent a risk factor for post partum thyroiditis. High TPO antibody concentrations should also be taken into account before initiating a treatment with amiodarone, lithium or alpha interferon.

Main characteristics

    Quantitative determination.

Result expression in international units (MRC 66/387)

   Ready-to-use Calibrators with individual color-coding.

Ready-to-use, stable Conjugate and Chromogen for simpler handling

Breakaway wells, ideally suited for small runs and for maximum cost-efficiency..

Common sample dilution protocol for thyroglobulin and thyroperoxidase autoantibody testing allowing simultaneous determination of both antibodies.

Room temperature incubations, standardized pipetting volumes and protocol for easy handling or adaptation to ELISA automatic processors

Non-specific reagents (Wash Buffer, Chromogen, Stop Solution) are common to all Orkit assays and can be used across the entire product line, regardless of batch numbers.
